Zoom a Chrome page and reset its size on Mac

In Chrome on Mac, Command-Plus enlarges the page, Command-Minus reduces it, and Command-0 resets the page to its default zoom. This is webpage zoom, not the Mac’s display-resolution control.

Match the adjustment to the problem

If only one webpage is difficult to read, change that page’s zoom first. If menus and every application are too small, inspect macOS display or accessibility settings separately. Browser zoom can change line wrapping and page layout, so an apparent missing sidebar may be the site adapting to a larger effective text size.

Check the page after each step

Increase zoom gradually and watch both text and navigation. A responsive page may move controls into a menu rather than remove them. For a long form, confirm that labels, validation messages and the submit control remain accessible. Reducing zoom merely to fit more content is not a substitute for reading text comfortably.

Recover from an accidental change

Use the reset shortcut when a familiar page suddenly looks unusually large or small. Then make a deliberate adjustment if needed. On non-US keyboards, the key needed for the plus character can differ; consult Chrome’s displayed menu shortcut. Practice zooming an article and resetting it while comparing the text size with the browser’s own address bar.
