Identify the event and the active view first

These shortcuts modify an appointment rather than merely moving your view around the calendar. Select exactly the intended event and inspect the current view before pressing a key. For a shared or invited event, consider who may be affected by changing it. A useful habit is to read the current start time aloud to yourself before making a schedule adjustment.

Respect the view-specific movement units

In Week view, Apple documents Up and Down as fifteen-minute moves, and Left and Right as one-day moves. Do not transfer that unit blindly to another view: Apple’s table describes different behavior for Month view, and its Left/Right descriptions include both day and week wording. This guide therefore limits that direction pair to Week view. Read the new date and time after each move rather than holding the keys down.

Practice on a private sample event

Make an expendable appointment in a calendar you control. In Week view, move it fifteen minutes later, inspect the details, then move it back. Try a one-day move and restore the original date. Keep this exercise in Week view so the movement unit stays clear. Do not use a real group meeting as a practice target, and review any confirmation dialogs before accepting changes.
