Read the selection before replacing text

Word and line navigation are useful when correcting a sentence or moving a phrase without selecting the entire note. Add Shift only when you intend to select. Before typing a replacement, inspect the highlighted range; punctuation and Markdown markers may be included, and replacing more than intended can change the structure of the note.

Keep document navigation and editor focus distinct

These shortcuts operate on text when the editor has focus. A sidebar, search box or dialog has its own interaction model. If the caret is not visible, return to the intended editor area first. A plugin or editing mode can also affect the experience, so compare the observed selection rather than repeating the command blindly.

Practice with a short Markdown sentence

On a scratch note, type a sentence containing a link or emphasized word. Move by words, extend a small selection and replace only that phrase. Then select to the end of the line and undo any test edit. Check both the text and its rendered meaning, especially if you selected brackets, asterisks or a heading marker.
