Separate readable text from decorative formatting
A copied passage may arrive with formatting that does not suit a Markdown note. Plain-text paste is useful when you want to review the wording and then add the structure yourself. It does not verify the copied claim, preserve source attribution automatically or remove sensitive information from text you intentionally paste.
Select the meaningful phrase for emphasis
Use bold or italic on a short label or phrase after the sentence is clear. In Markdown, presentation and source text are connected, so inspect the surrounding markers if the result looks wrong. Avoid repeatedly toggling styles over an unclear selection; identify the exact words and use Undo if an experiment changes more than expected.
Check a small paste before importing a long note
Try a harmless short paragraph from a source you are permitted to copy, paste it without formatting and inspect its line breaks. Add one emphasized phrase and compare the result in your usual reading mode. For a longer research note, keep the source link alongside your own explanation rather than relying on copied visual formatting to show provenance.
