Find Obsidian commands and their shortcuts on Mac

Command-P opens Obsidian’s Command palette on Mac when that core plugin is enabled. Type the command name, use Arrow keys to choose a result and press Return. Assigned hotkeys are shown beside commands; not every command has one.

Search for the action instead of guessing a key

The palette is useful for commands you use occasionally and for discovering what a feature is called. Type a distinctive part of the action name, inspect the result and read any displayed binding. A tutorial’s example key may not match your vault, particularly when community plugins or personal settings are involved.

Keep discovery separate from execution

Opening the palette only displays choices, while confirming a result runs the selected command. Inspect potentially destructive or broad actions before pressing Return. For a first exercise, choose a harmless view command. A command can be present without an assigned keyboard shortcut, so the absence of a key beside it is not a broken installation.

Assign shortcuts only after checking conflicts

When an action becomes frequent, inspect Settings, then Hotkeys, and search for that command. Obsidian’s hotkey settings are the place to add or remove assignments. Check existing bindings before choosing a combination, and record what you change. That keeps command discovery useful without turning a new shortcut into an unexpected conflict with another action.
