Platform, keyboard and verification notes
- Scope
- Figma · Figma Design on Mac; not a promise that these controls exist in every Figma product. Documentation checked 4 November 2026.
- Keyboard and customization
- English documentation and US-style key names. Punctuation and function keys can differ on other layouts.. These are documentation-backed defaults, not a hands-on test. App settings, operating-system shortcuts, extensions and keyboard layout can change what happens. Check focus and the current app menu or shortcut settings when a binding differs.
- Review basis
- Documentation reviewed 2026-11-05 by Codex — source and editorial review; no runtime test. These bindings were not tested in a running app for this guide.

Decide whether the canvas or controls are too small
Canvas zoom changes the artwork view. Interface scaling changes controls such as panels, menus and the toolbar. If the design is readable but the Layers panel is uncomfortable, adjust the interface rather than repeatedly zooming the canvas. Compare both parts after each change so you know which setting solved the actual problem.
Use contrast as a separate readability adjustment
Enhanced contrast is a preference available through Figma’s accessibility settings. Search for the setting in Actions and inspect the available choice. A larger interface is not the same as increased contrast, and either adjustment may be useful independently. Changes to your viewing preferences should not be confused with changing the colors inside the design document.
Make one reversible adjustment at a time
Try a single increase in interface size, then inspect the toolbar and property panels. If the layout becomes less useful, reset the scale before choosing a different adjustment. On punctuation-heavy shortcuts, keyboard layout can matter, so compare the keys with the app’s current reference. Avoid evaluating a design’s actual spacing solely from a changed UI scale.
