Complete reminders and reveal completed tasks

Shift-Command-C marks a selected reminder complete or incomplete. Shift-Command-H shows or hides completed reminders, which is a viewing decision rather than a task-state change.

Make completion mean that the task is done

Select the specific reminder you intend to complete and read its title before changing its state. In a busy list it is easy to select a neighboring task, especially after a search or sort change. Completion is useful when it represents a clear outcome; if a task still needs another action, edit its wording or create the next task instead of using completion merely to remove visual clutter.

Do not confuse a hidden task with a deleted task

Showing or hiding completed reminders changes whether finished items appear in the list. It does not turn them back into unfinished work. If a reminder seems to vanish immediately after completion, inspect the completed-items visibility control. Likewise, revealing completed tasks for a review should not be mistaken for reopening all of those tasks.

Practice state and visibility separately

Create a reminder called Practice completion. Mark it complete, toggle completed-item visibility, and observe the difference between the task’s state and whether you can currently see it. Reveal it again and mark it incomplete if you want to reuse the sample. This gives you a simple recovery path when you accidentally complete an item and cannot immediately find it in the current list view.
