Create Notion headings and lists with Mac shortcuts

In Notion on Mac, Command-Option-1 creates a heading 1 and Command-Option-2 a heading 2. Command-Option-5 creates a bulleted list, Command-Option-6 a numbered list, and Command-Option-0 returns a block to text.

Choose structure from the information

Use headings for sections, bullets for parallel facts and numbers for steps that depend on order. A heading is not merely a larger-looking sentence. For a project page, the major phases can be headings while the checks within each phase can form a list. This gives the page a predictable reading structure.

Use the Mac combination explicitly

Notion’s help combines Mac and Windows notation in one document. On Mac, the content-creation combination uses Command and Option, not the Windows Control and Shift substitution. Select the relevant block or position the caret in it before changing the block type, then inspect whether existing text stayed in the intended location.

Build a small outline before filling it

On a scratch page, write three short section labels and convert them into a heading hierarchy. Add a bullet list under one and a numbered procedure under another. Return an accidentally changed block to text with the documented shortcut. Check that the result communicates order and grouping even without decorative colors or a complicated template.
