Distinguish video controls from slide controls
A presentation containing video has more than one navigation context. Slide arrows control the deck, while the documented video commands control the movie during playback. Before using a key, check whether the intended video is the active media context. A command that changes the movie position is not a way to jump to the next slide, and moving to another slide may interrupt the explanation you planned.
Use frame inspection for a specific teaching point
If you need to discuss a moment in a demonstration, pause first and inspect the frame position with the video controls. Do this during rehearsal so that you know what is visible and how to return to the intended part of the clip. The beginning and end shortcuts are useful for deliberate repositioning, but they can also skip information if used accidentally while speaking.
Rehearse with a harmless short clip
Insert a sample video you are allowed to use into a disposable deck. Start the presentation, play the video, pause, and compare rewind with fast-forward. Inspect how the controls behave while paused, then jump to the beginning and the end in turn. Confirm audio and the audience display separately. Reading a shortcut table does not verify that a particular venue’s sound or display setup is ready.
