Pick the right search area

A phrase already on screen belongs in page search. A question about another website belongs in the address bar. This difference matters when reading a long manual: typing a section name into the address bar starts a new navigation instead of locating the section in the document you already have open.

Read the context around each match

Search for an unusual part of the phrase, then move through matches one at a time. A word may occur in navigation, a footer or an unrelated example. For a long product manual, finding battery is only the beginning; check the heading and surrounding sentences before treating the result as an instruction for your model.

When the expected text is absent

Page search works on content available in that page, not every page of a website. An unopened panel, separate PDF viewer or dynamically loaded result may require another step. First reveal or load the relevant content, then search again. Practice finding a phrase on an ordinary article before assuming a complex web application uses the same search behavior.
