Change the page you are reading
Website zoom is useful when a page’s content is difficult to read at its current size. Start with one page, change the scale and check whether text and layout remain usable. The purpose is to make this browsing view comfortable, not to alter the website’s original source or the resolution of the Mac display.
Check focus and punctuation keys
Plus and minus positions depend on the keyboard layout, and a focused website editor may have its own handling of keypresses. If the expected zoom does not occur, use Safari’s View menu to inspect the current command and combination. Avoid changing unrelated system accessibility preferences just to compensate for an app-specific focus problem.
Compare zoom with other reading tools
A larger page view can be useful even when Reader is unavailable, but it does not remove navigation or advertising from the page. Choose the tool that matches the problem: scale for size, a reading view for eligible article layout, or macOS Zoom when the surrounding application controls also need magnification.
