Choose the smallest useful capture

A selected area is useful for a single control or a brief visual explanation. A window capture provides more context and usually makes it easier to identify which application is being discussed. Decide which information the recipient needs before capturing; a full display can include unrelated messages or documents.

Check the destination and options

The Screenshot interface provides controls for the capture mode and related options. Confirm those settings when a capture seems to disappear or when you need a delay to expose a menu. Some protected application content cannot be captured normally; a keyboard shortcut does not override that restriction.

Review before sharing

Open the resulting image and inspect all visible areas, not only the feature you meant to demonstrate. Remove unrelated personal details through an appropriate editing workflow before sending the file. During practice, capture a harmless blank window so you can learn the selection and cancellation behaviour without exposing working material.
