A simple seven-day shortcut practice plan
Quick answer
Practise one small, reversible task each day. Check its result and keep only the commands useful to your work. Skip or repeat days as needed.

Days 1–2: switch apps and windows
- On day one, move between two harmless applications and return to the first. On day two, use two disposable windows inside one application and notice how window selection differs from switching apps.
- Apple documents these as separate navigation operations. Leave closing and quitting out until you can identify the destination reliably. Finish each short session with one observation, such as which window received focus. Knowing where you arrived matters more than the time taken to press the keys.
Days 3–5: inspect, select and search
- On day three, identify a sample file with a preview. On day four, select a phrase in disposable text. On day five, find a word on a public webpage.
- Each task has a visible result you can inspect without making a destructive change. If a default differs from your setup, check the current menu or shortcut editor rather than forcing a published combination. Keep the exercise small enough to explain what happened; you do not need to practise every command at once.
Days 6–7: choose what to keep
- On day six, repeat one action that interrupted your real work during the week. On day seven, choose two or three action names for your reference and leave the rest searchable.
- Remove uncomfortable or irrelevant exercises. Your accessibility needs, keyboard layout and apps should shape the plan. This is a suggested practice routine, not a measured learning program or promise of faster work. Use the pointer, repeat a day or stop whenever that makes the task clearer.
