Use Auto for your active app

Auto is the default in KeyboardShortcuts.pro. Switch between applications and the reference follows the active external app. You do not need to pin or add an app before its readable menu shortcuts can appear.

Check the app name at the bottom of the popup. The same key combination can mean different things in different apps, so the selected app is part of the shortcut’s meaning.

Choose an app manually to keep its reference open

  1. Open the app picker and select the app you want to consult. Manual selection is useful when you are taking notes in one app while checking commands for another.
  2. Return to Auto when you want the reference to follow your work again. Pinning changes the order of the picker; it does not enable discovery, start an app or create a catalog for an app that is no longer running.

Check coverage separately

A correct app name does not mean every command is available. Accessibility permission, the current menu state and the app’s own menu support still determine what can be read.

If the rows look wrong, check the app and selection mode first. Then check permission and menu availability. Successful discovery in one application does not prove that another application exposes the same information.
